Congratulations to our RN admits!
Yesterday we sent emails to around 70 newly admitted students. If you're one of them, we have an announcement: Congratulations! And we have another announcement: since we were late in getting our decisions out, you have until June 15 to decide to enroll; not until June 1. If you have any questions, please email transfer@bobball.uchicago.edu
Early alternative applicants who were admitted also have until June 15, 2006 to reply.

Is the deadline extension for EA as well?
Yes, the deadline has been extended for Early Alternative tranfers students as well.
Any news on the evaluations? Any sort-of answer (I know you aren't in charge of that sort of thing...) to my question about courses on the last entry?
Just got FinAid in the mail - no credit evaluations.
Shouldn't these arrive BEFORE FinAid?
Should we be recieving info in the mail about fin. aid and credit evaluations, or is everything done on the internet for transfers?
Are our credit evals available online?
Credit evaluations are not available online...
John Laseman in the Advising Office continues to process and complete transfer credit evaluations on a daily basis.
It seems that offers of financial assistance are arriving ahead of the credit evaluations in some instances. I think this is because for the first time, our office of college aid is receiving some advance notice regarding the amount of credit that might be awarded...just an idea.
Good luck all.
Does being eligible for 7 quarters of financial aid mean that I'm not going to graduate in 2 years? :-/
I also heard that you can appeal your transfer credit by showing various people syllabi and that sort of thing - could you outline how that process works?
1) 7 quarters is a little over 2 years at Chicago....how much credit have you received....
2) If you have immediate questions about the credit evaluation....you should email John Laseman once you receive your credit evaluation.
I haven't received a credit evaluation. I have the FinAid letter and got it on Monday.
I was the one last post that mentioned four of my courses were different "Special Topics In..." classes that didn't really have descriptions in the course catalog. I'm worried that these may not transfer whatsoever.
Another day, another no show for the credits. :-/
I still haven't gotten my financial aid stuff yet. Am I the only one? Is it lost? No credit eval either....
Six days since FinAid with no Credit Eval.
Six days since FinAid with no Credit Eval.
Where the hell is our credit evaluation? I received evaluations from ivy league schools weeks ago... I would like to attend UChicago but am extremely turned off by the disorganization and lack of responsiveness from the admissions department.
Nine days since FinAid with no credit evaluations. Disillusionment is setting in, especially with no commentary from Gerald.
I'm having trouble opening the "eat Sleep Breath Live Chicago" document. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'll check on the documents, and the credit evals first thing in the morning...and post then.
Apologies
Here is Eat Sleep Breathe Live Chicago
Sorry about the mistake.
Ten days, no credit evaluation.
Days since FinAid w/ no evaluation: 11
Days since Gerald said he'd find out and post tomorrow: 2
If we're already certain that we want to go to UChicago how do we let you know and get the ball rolling on housing?
Elise: Do you have a financial aid award and a credit evaluation?
neither but I was late with my financial aid because it's hard to get my parents to do anything
Just diving in without knowing if you get transfer credit?
Eh I hardly paid anything for the credits that I have and there's so many classes I want to take at UChicago that I don't mind staying an extra year.
One way to look at it. I can't do that.
Days since FinAid w/ no evaluation: 12
Days since Gerald said he'd find out and post tomorrow: 3

So can we respond to an offer of admission online? I know incoming freshmen could, but I can't find anything for transfers...
To the above poster: No. "ThickEnvelope" was only for freshmen. You have to send your forms they sent you back to them by June 15th. (With or without transfer credit evaluations. Sigh.)
I spoke with John Laseman last week and he indicated that the first round of transfer credit evaluations were on the way....please post when you begin to receive them.
Thanks,
Jerry
Jerry,
Sorry for hounding you so much. I don't deal with waiting well.
What is the "first round?" All the EA? I was in the 'Eleventh Hour' group of first admits... am I in the first round?
Thanks,
Me!
Will we receive our credit evaluations before the June 15th deadline? If not, do we get an extension?
Jerry, could you please give us a little more than that? How many of us does the first round include? How many rounds are there? When will they all be done by?
Most of all, and I know many of us really need an answer to this one, am I going to have to decide about admission before I know anything at all about credit evals or financial aid?
I think John Laseman lied to you.
We only have a week until we have to respond. This is getting rediculous.
