Transcript Evaluations, Financial Aid and Other Items of Interest
1) Transcript evaluations will formally begin towards the end of next week. I will post a note on May 11th to let you know the progress the Advising Office has made in this regard. If we have any specific questions for you regarding the evaluation of your transcripts we will be in touch.

2) Financial aid packages are completed once a transcript evaluation has been competed. If you are applying for financial aid, you should call the Office of College Aid at 773-702-8655 to be sure that they have received all of the necessary credentials to make an evaluation of your financial need.
3) All of the students on this site are all students who have been admitted under the Early Alternative program.
4) Housing is available for all transfer students.

Mr. Doyle,
I have both a present(mailing) address on file and a permanent address. My current address(where I received the Admission Packet) is here at school. Our finals end next week and I will be moving home on the 12th. Should I call the Admissions Office and the Office of College Aid to tell them to send the credit evaluation and the financial aid information to my permanent address?
Thank you,
JS

Mailing Addresses:
Great question; yes, by all means call both offices and let us know where and when these changes should be made.
For Admissions, email my colleague, Ms. Shaw at kmshaw@uchicago.edu

Mr. Doyle,
Are Transfer students allowed to spend a night on campus, or attend classes some time this month.
thanks.
Mr Doyle,
Are admitted transfer students allowed to defer for a year before attending?
Staying in the Dorms...
<> We've traditionally not done this....I think because transfer admissions comes so close to final exams for students...but let me take this up tomorrow in the office and I'll see what we can do.
Requesting to Defer
<> This is possible...as long as you do not attend or matriculate at another institution. You first need to submit your reply to the the Offer of Admission, and pay your tuition deposits. Requests to Defer must be written to the Dean of Admissions
Not staying in the dorms shouldn't be much of a problem; a tour of them would be nice though.
Also should we contact someone if we want to sit in on a class?
Mr. Doyle,
The time table in the packet says 1 week for transfer credit evaluation(so perhaps the end of this week) and 3 weeks for financial aid. That 3 week figure puts financial aid decisions arriving almost right near June 1st. Is this timetable still in effect or a bit changed?
I am sorry, this is a terrible quesiton, but would it be possible to get statistics to see what Chicago students do after graduation: employment and grad schools etc.
-thanks.
Attention transfer students:
I called the College Aid office and they had lost my Financial Aid application (the one I filled out online with my admissions app) - apparently many Finaid apps submitted from December to Early January were "lost." Please call and check and get a hasty fax in if you need to!
Please let me know if you submitted the Form 4 - Financial Aid form online; if the answer to this is yes, then I can print an electronic copy from the online application for the Office of College Aid.
Email me at gdoyle@uchicago.edu
Oh. I guess that's a lost $2.25 fax charge.
Oh well!
Gerald, do you have an ETA on credit evaluations?
Also, has the director of College Aid received the list of admitted and waitlisted students so processing can begin?
they lost my information as well.
Should I Fax it all in tomorrow?
